13 year olds. I have one. And I have one who used to be 13 three years ago. And I love 13. Don’t let anyone tell you that 13 year olds are hard. Because they are the perfect mixture of potential, wonder, and maturity.
And that is why I am honored when I get to photograph Bar and Bat Mitzvahs. I love how family travels from all over to celebrate and enjoy this unique moment, but I also love how the Mitzvah young adult and their friends are so happy and supportive of each other. This is one day, but one day that has been planned and worked towards for years. It is this day when this child becomes an adult in the eyes of their religion. And it is this day that lets them feel their uniqueness, their potential, their place in their community.
Here is Benny, who is so loved, running towards his friends, and towards his future as a Jewish adult. Running towards love and community. May we all be so lucky
